The police accused him of using fraudulent means to transfer funds from the victim's account. This arrest comes as Australian regulators strengthen cryptocurrency crime enforcement efforts. Merrin was granted bail and is scheduled to appear in Port Kembla Local Court on December 3rd.

The former forward for the St. George Illawarra Dragons, Penrith Panthers, and Leeds Rhinos retired from the Australian Rugby League in 2021 after a 15-year career. He has represented New South Wales and the Australian national team.
