Coinbase has launched x402 V2, which supports a unified interface for accepting payments in multiple currencies.
BlockBeats News, December 12th. According to Coinbase's Lead Developer erik.eth, after millions of x402 transactions, the team has announced the release of x402 V2. The new version aims to drive the development of Internet-native payments with greater flexibility and enhanced functionality.
The new version standardizes the network and asset formats, allowing servers to accept stablecoins and even fiat currencies across various networks through the same x402 interface without the need to write custom logic for each network.
Furthermore, the V2 version introduces the concept of extensions to the x402 standard. Extensions enable the structured passing of additional optional data between clients, servers, and coordinators. This opens the door for features such as authentication, multiple discovery mechanisms, and more. The extension feature empowers developers to extend x402 without forking from the core specification.
